Spreading the love, one log at a time – Official Blog

Geocaching is often described as a treasure hunt, but sometimes the real treasure isn’t what’s inside the container—it’s the heartfelt messages geocachers leave in their logs.

On the surface, cache logs are often simple: many FTF and TFTC logs, sometimes a picture, and many times, copy-and-paste messages. But every now and then, a log stops you in your tracks—it’s heartfelt, thoughtful, tender.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating the heartfelt logs hidden in logbooks around the world.

I’ve written and rewritten this log more times than I can count, and still, words fall short of capturing how much I loved this cache. Without a doubt, it ranks in my top 3 favorite finds of all time. It took multiple trips, countless miles, and a whole lot of determination—but wow, was it worth every bit of the effort. I’m attaching photos from all the stops along the way and, of course, leaving a very well-earned favorite point. What an unforgettable adventure!” – poeanne (GCAJJPF)

“My last cache.
I underestimated a lot, wrong shoes, clothes, lack of water.
It’s not the owner’s fault, but mine, and only mine…
Beautiful views, I reached my goal… both in geocaching and in life.
Isn’t it beautiful to die doing what you love?…” – MaBr (GC29ZXX)

This spot became the favorite —
sunlight warm on granite,
laughter echoing between boulders,
the kids already halfway up the next formation
before I could blink.

My husband and I paused long enough
to shape our hands into a heart,
framing the moment, the place,
and the people who make these adventures glow.
We laughed at our imperfect symmetry
and claimed the “love rock” as our own…” – flowers22 (GC9P4W2)

Earthcaches are difficult for me…I tend to get hung up on the wording and then end up going down rabbit holes looking for the right answer. I also tend to apologize for my guessing, but my efforts are heartfelt. Thankfully, this one was doable for me, as I’ve lived in the PNW for years, have stood on Kite Hill more times than I can count and spent the 4th of July watching the crowds grow in anticipation of the fireworks show. Answers sent and grateful to say that this marks my 6,000th find!…” – aloha3263 (GCATDEZ)

A sad occasion for this cache, yet such a beautiful idea to create it in memory of a loved one. May the pain of grief have transformed into loving memories for you, the bereaved!” – waterlady22 (GC2YGPP)

This Valentine’s Day, here’s to you: the one who makes every set of coordinates sweeter and every posted log the greatest treasure of all.
